It’s “that” Time of year

It’s that time of year when life gets so busy with commitments that some days are filled with activity. Activity other then working out that is. Yesterday our day ended like this, with a trip to see the newly lit tree and lights at our State Capitol building.

But it began with raking leaves and cleaning decks because we knew that while the weather was beautiful yesterday, it wasn’t going to last. For a couple of hours I waffled on whether or not I should take advantage of the late entry option at the annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk.  I knew we were going to be down there for J to take pictures for his Arkansas Outside site so I had the choice of helping with photography or running. I chose to work in the yard till the last minute and help with photography. The regret set in almost immediately when I realized on the ride dowtown that this was probably the first race to utilize the new Clinton Library Bridge. Oh, well, no use crying over spilt split times. After watching the start, I was able to get up on the bridge at the crest of the last little incline before the descent to the finish to take pictures and cheer. Santa led the pack out of the parking lot

And it's Santa in the lead...

And I got a great shot of the lead female and at this point 4th overall: She was flying!

double the trouble and double the work

There were lots of jogging strollers and a lot of doubles! That’s tough work.

While we were cheering and snapping photos, the small one was at  home getting started on Christmas Craftime. These are the christmas sheet music trees she’s making for her piano teacher. Cool. I kind of want some too.

Sheet Music Trees, almost done

and then we had to get her to school to get costumed up for the annual Medieval Feast put on by the Choirs along with some of the drama and orchestra students. An evening of music, wassail and eating half a chicken with our fingers.  After allowing her time to help clean up, change clothes and eat,  we finally got to the Capitol to see the lights. And it was late. So the guard at the door asked us “Where have you guys been? We’ve been waiting for you. We close at 9 and since it’s 9:34, ya’ll just come right on in.”  Nice. Because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this moment right here.
